if god exists, wouldnt it make more sense for him to show himself today - now that we are a more enlightened people?

Only God! The question remains - is he missing you?

To clear up the confusion there are hundreds of gods. All the gods are welcome to my next party but they will have to bring their own ambrosia. Thrones will not be provided as I expect them to be on the dance floor. They can take their shoes of as I don't want stardust on my carpets. They are welcome to dish out rewards to my friends but can leave all that macho fire and brimstone stuff behind. My hopes of them attending are not high. It will be a miracle if even a dozen turn up.

Believers and dinosaurs

i was curious to hear what other believers understand about dinosaurs.

i know we have a few young earth creationists here.

i wondered what you understand about dinosaurs and when they existed, as well as hear from those that believe dinosaurs lived millions of years ago and how it fits into the bible..

durex's global sex survey has found that 44% of adults worldwide have had one-night extramarital sex and 22% have had an affair.according to a 2004 united states survey, 16% of married partners have had extramarital sex, nearly twice as many men as women, while an additional 30% have fantasized about extramarital sex.

there were also studies that have shown rates of extramarital sex as low as 2.5%.as many authors conclude, these kinds of estimates are probably understated because extramarital sex is commonly disapproved.. .

what do you think is it ethical to confess an extramarital affair?.

some still act like jws but others have shown recovery and progress from the witness mentality..

Ten years ago I didn’t know whether to become a Buddhist, Atheist, Tibetan monk, Agnostic, Christian or Epicurean.

I’m still no further forward except that my Epicurean leanings are increasing despite the efforts of Christians to save me.

i've only been a member here for a short time, but it seems like there are more christians on the board lately.

for the first few months that i was on jwn, it appeared that there were very few that argued in favor of a creator and belief in the bible in particular.

there seems to be several more that have recently joined...or at least posted more regularly regarding belief.

Sometimes it's better to be indecisive than grab hold of a belief in something just so we can say we have made our mind up. Then we are able to stop thinking, enquiring, wondering, growing; all activities that make being human so great.

I am prepared to remain indecisive for the rest of my life. In fact, ignorance is bliss.

I Still Can't Celebrate Xmas. Can You? Christians vs Atheists

while in the organization we learned one bit of truth regarding christmas; that it was originally a pagan observance, the summer solstice, adopted by christians much later in church history, and has nothing to do with jesus christ whatsoever.

no biggy for most true believers who left the organization who have slipped into (or fell back into) the grind of commercialized christmas with all the trappings and traditions of ritual binge spending that takes them even farther away from jesus than christmas' pagan roots ever could.

these true believers might say something like, "i know xmas has its roots in paganism, but we celebrate anyway because of x y z", perhaps echoing or paroting the frustrating responses we use to hear from "worldly" goats/folks when we would explain to them how christmas is not a christian observance whatsoever.

Jehovah's Witnesses assert that Christmas is based on the pagan Roman festival of Saturnalia. This makes it ideal for non- Christians to celebrate. As most Christian symbols and festival have been absorbed from pagans and become acceptable mainstream Christian tradition, Christmas is also ideal for Christians. This is a time of the year when we can all be merry and ‘gay’ and enjoy socialising, relaxing and celebrating the achievement of surviving another year while we plan the next one. My Christmas has already started, hope you get started soon.

I used to be certain that I was indecisive but now I'm not so sure!

Christ Alone Having both Christians and Atheists on the board works well. Without an equal balance of opposing opinions and challenges to our views people run the risk of becoming members of a self congratulation club.

To the death! Though for Christians death is the beginning not the end, which is an incredible feat by any standard and very confusing.
